少し前に読み終わったMichael Paramo, Ending the Pursuit: Asexuality, Aromanticism and Agender、とても刺激的な論考で読んでよかった。2章の「惹かれ」(attraction)を性的/恋愛的意味合いから引き剥がして細かく腑分けしているところが白眉かと。著者はメキシコ系アメリカ人で、今現在のあらゆる価値基準はヨーロッパ＝白人の作り出したものが植民地主義によってはびこっているという事実を基礎においており、結論部分でのたとえば人にあなたはアセクシュアル/アロマンティック/アジェンダー(ノンバイナリー)なのかと聞かれたら「そうだね、西洋の世界観では」と答えるかもしれないというくだりにはうならされた。それはaro/ace/agenderの名乗りを相対化したり透明化する意図によるものでは当然なく、ただこれらの概念/言葉は西洋のキリスト教的シスヘテロ家父長制規範が作り出したアロセクシュアル allosexual*, アロロマンティックalloromantic*, 性別二元論を標準とした世界だからこそ生まれてしまった腑分けの仕方だということだ。
*allosexualは性的な惹かれを経験するセクシュアリティを指し、alloromanticは恋愛感情を持つセクシュアリティを指す。カタカナで書くとアセクシュアル・アロマンティックと見分けがつきにくく、どう表記するか悩ましい
これはぜひ翻訳されてほしい。これまでの著述をまとめたものかもしれず、1冊としてのまとまりには欠けるのだが、植民地主義への徹底した批判的視点に貫かれているとともに、aroaceやノンバイナリーについての説明(もあるけれど)というよりは、その者としての実存を西洋中心主義から取り戻そうとする強い意思が他と一線を画す重要な点かと思う。と断言できるほど類書を読んではいないのだが…
